Atico Cocina an exciting new restaurant and bar at 19 Drake Street, Victoria Park Market is now open. Atico Cocina is home to a relaxed dining experience, set in a large historic converted stable-style building that draws inspiration from the Caribbean islands and South America.  

Victoria Park Market’s landmark chimney has won a highly commend award in the New Zealand Institute of Building Awards 2011. The $600,000 strengthening renovation used a revolutionary technique to strengthen this historic icon.

Platinum Sports Co will be moving to their spacious new premises in the courtyard late December and La Zeppa restaurant and bar who have remained open during the construction are looking forward to their spacious new deck in December. The Oakroom Bar and Restaurant in Drake Street has started it’s fitout and will be open early January and the Great New Zealand Shop has also started their fitout in their new premises in the courtyard.

There will also be new butchery, poultry, bakery, fruit and vegetable, honey and giftware outlets, along with antique and jewellery shops, beauty clinics, sushi, cafes and more. As part of the shopping mix there will also be specialist retail outlets such as the unique Tibetan Craft Shop and New Zealand Art and Crafts.

  • Victoria Park Market has all but closed after 25 years as a popular shopping mecca, in preparation for a new lease of life to be launched in late December
  • The 100-year-old Rob Roy Hotel, across the road in Union Street, will be reinstated to its former glory. The building was moved 44m to allow the new Auckland motorway tunnel to proceed. The Rob Roy Plaza is expected to be completed by the end of the year and will offer direct access into Victoria Park Market
  • Reinstatement of Victoria Park is well under way and the new 2,100 sq m skateboard park is now open
